Orchestra Symphony Trip
Professor Rob Ribera has arranged an exciting opportunity for us to visit the Oregon Symphony for a rehearsal session. If you love movie scores, you'll want to come along on Friday January 24th to watch the Pops conductor Jeff Tyzik as he and the musicians practice cues for their upcoming "Heroes and Villains" concert. They'll play selections from Star Wars, Casablanca, The Shape of Water, and many more! This will be an opportunity to see an orchestra at work before the live performance, so we'll see some highlights, probably a few full pieces (and probably some false starts too). It's a fascinating experience if you are interested in how film scores connect with the images on screen, how they are arranged, and all the work that goes into an orchestral performance. The rehearsal is from 9:30 until around noon, so we will leave campus at 9 sharp on a Reed van and probably be back to campus around 1. Please email rribera@reed.edu to reserve your spot. I have 15 seats available, and this is open to both English and Film students. Here's some more information about the concert:
We hope to see you there!
