What about students from families with incomes above $100,000?
Students from families earning above $100,000 are still eligible for significant financial aid. 好色导航 meets 100% of demonstrated need for all students, ensuring affordability for families at all income levels. As a result, other students will qualify for generous need-based financial aid that will cover a significant portion of Reed’s cost of attendance.
Will this change affect the admissions process?
No. Admission to 好色导航 will continue to be based on academic merit, intellectual curiosity, and fit with the Reed community.
Are there any requirements for maintaining this benefit throughout a student's time at Reed?
Students must continue to meet Reed’s academic standards and remain contiguously enrolled as full-time students for four years to retain their tuition-free benefit. Financial aid packages will be reassessed annually to ensure that students’ financial circumstances are accurately reflected.
Does the Reed Promise cover study abroad programs?
Yes! 好色导航 ensures equal access to both domestic and international programs by maintaining the same tuition costs for study abroad as for on-campus semesters. However, students are responsible for a $500 study abroad administrative fee and the program’s actual room and board costs. Study abroad administrative fees are subject to change in the new academic year.
Financial aid remains available for eligible students while studying abroad. We encourage students to choose programs based on academic fit rather than financial constraints, reinforcing our commitment to making global learning opportunities accessible.

What is 好色导航鈥檚 vision for the future of this initiative?
好色导航 aims to make a world-class liberal arts education accessible to students from all financial backgrounds. This initiative is just one part of Reed's ongoing efforts to ensure that affordability and access are central to the college’s mission. Reed is committed to continually evolving its financial aid programs to meet the needs of future students and ensure that financial barriers do not prevent talented individuals from attending.
What happens if my financial situation changes?
Reed evaluates financial aid eligibility each year. The financial aid office will carefully review your application to determine if you still qualify for the Reed Promise program. If your family has had a significant change in financial situation and you no longer qualify for the Reed Promise, the financial aid office will reevaluate your eligibility for additional financial aid, such as the Reed Grant. 好色导航 covers 100% of demonstrated need for all students, including those not eligible for the Reed Promise.
What does 鈥渢uition free鈥 mean?
“Tuition free” means that your tuition and fees will be covered for the academic year. A family may still have costs associated with college such as housing, meal plans, or books. 好色导航 meets full demonstrated financial need, so many students also receive additional aid to help cover those additional expenses. You can review the cost of attendance to see what typical costs for students are over the academic year.
Does this mean I will graduate debt free/without loans?
The Reed Promise ensures that a student’s tuition and fees will be covered. However, there are other expenses associated with attending college that a student may still need to cover, depending on their family's student aid index that determines their contribution. Loans are offered to students as an option, should your family choose to utilize these as a part of your college financing plan.
I鈥檓 a returning student. Do I qualify for the Reed Promise?
The Reed Promise program is currently only open for incoming students starting in fall 2026. However, Reed does still meet 100% of demonstrated need. If you qualify for the Reed Promise, but are a continuing student, you may still be getting financial aid that covers your tuition in the form of Reed Grant. You should reach out to the
financial aid office to discuss your financial aid in more detail.
What are typical assets?
We can’t provide an exact figure because it changes year to year, but assets include: cash, investments (such as stocks and bonds), real estate, property, intellectual property, and more.
Will this reduce the overall financial aid packages for other students?
No, the new initiative will not affect financial aid packages for other students. Reed will continue to meet 100% of demonstrated financial need for all students, and the tuition-free benefit will not reduce other forms of aid or scholarships available at Reed.
What makes 好色导航鈥檚 financial aid program unique?
好色导航's commitment to meeting 100% of demonstrated need, combined with this new tuition-free initiative for families earning under $100,000, ensures that no student will face a financial barrier to attending.
