University College Cork

Cork, Ireland

Located in Ireland's second-largest city, on the banks of the River Lee, University College Cork is the country's premier research institute. To this end, students can expect a modern, research-driven curriculum and may apply to any of the following seven faculties the university has to offer: Arts and Celtic Studies, Commerce, Engineering, Food Science and Technology, Law, Medicine and Health, and Science. Students studying at UCC will have the opportunity to spend a semester or year in Cork, coupling academia with cultural integration.

UCC is divided into four colleges of study: Arts, Celtic Studies and Social Sciences; Business and Law; Science, Engineering and Food Science; and Medicine and Health. There are over 17,000 students pursuing an undergraduate degree at UCC, in a vast spectrum of disciplines. Study abroad students may take courses in whichever fields they prefer. To facilitate studies in a new environment, UCC offers students various systems of support, ranging from personal counseling to academic tutor partnering. International students are also invited to participate in UCC's numerous social and athletic clubs to complement cultural integration and foster community with local students. Study Abroad students can also choose to start three weeks early in their Early Start Semester to learn about Irish archeology, Irish history and modern Ireland, or literature in Ireland and creative writing.

Study Abroad Information Guide 2023-2024

Housing: Shared Apartment, Independent Housing
Study abroad students are prioritized for housing in purpose-built student apartments, most of which are within a 5-15 minute walk from UCC鈥檚 campus. Further details about housing registration will be sent upon acceptance. The program recommends students apply early to the program, in order to secure housing.

Financial, Immigration

Cost to attend:

好色导航 charges the same tuition fees for a semester or year off-campus as for a semester or year spent on campus, plus the program's actual room and board fees. 好色导航 encourages students to choose programs based on their academic rather than financial needs to reflect Reed's belief that all students, regardless of financial circumstances, should have the opportunity to study abroad.

Financial aid continues for eligible students during the off-campus program. Students should discuss with the Financial Aid Office how other outside aid may impact their existing aid package. Check out more details directly on the 好色导航 Financial Aid page.

Visa Deadlines and Requirements:

US passport holders do not need to apply for a study visa to enter Ireland but must register with immigration authorities upon entering the country. Please see for more information.

Changes to Immigration financial requirements for 2023-2024

Students that hold a Non-EU passport are required to register with Immigration during their semester. At their Immigration appointment they are required to show proof of access to finances.

Non-Visa Requiring Students (USA, Canada, Australia, Singapore passport holders)

From 1st July 2023 all non-EU students will be required to show evidence to immigration that they have access to at least €4,200 if staying for longer than 6 months, or €700 per month if staying for less than 6 months.  (These figures have increased from the previous requirements of €3,000 or €500 per month)

Visa Requiring Students

All visa required students who intend commencing their studies in Ireland after 01 July 2023, will be required to show evidence that they have access to at least €10,000 per year of their studies.

If the duration of the course is less than 6 months, they must have access to €700 per month of their stay or €4,200, whichever is the lesser.

This does not need to be shown at first time immigration registration, but does need to be shown at each subsequent renewal of permission.
