Areas of Study
There are many possible routes to take for studying abroad, so an important early step is to start a running plan. Creating their own personalized 8-Semester Plan will help students get an idea of what they have to fill for major, minor, division, and college-wide group requirements. Linked here is a google docs template of an 8-Semester Plan which students can make a copy of to customize. Below, there are premade 8-Semester Plan examples for each of the majors offered at Reed. These are great jumping off points when creating individual 8-Semester Plans, giving an idea of what requirements could look like, and possible timing for study abroad. Some things to consider with that are classes like Junior Seminar, which is required for many majors and will require some extra planning for studying abroad during the junior year. Once students have begun to make their 8-Semester Plan, using the information here as well as the requirements listed on their department’s section of the Reed website, it is helpful to make a meeting with their academic advisor to discuss these plans. They can give up to date information and help students flesh out their plan.
